Warning signs that my friend may be in an abusive relationship
Your friend starts withdrawing and making excuses not to meet friends, family or engage in activities they once enjoyed (this could be a sign that their partner is controlling)
Your friend appears anxious around or afraid of their partner
They have frequent unexplained bruises or injuries e.g. cuts, sprained joints etc.
They suddenly start wearing clothing that could be hiding injuries e.g. long sleeves in very warm weather
Your friend starts showing extreme differences in personality e.g. someone normally happy and jovial becoming quiet, or vice versa
You notice they have a partner who appears to have a temper, is easily jealous or possessive. Pay close attention even if their partner often expresses this in a joking manner
They become hypervigilant and believe that their partner is all-knowing and aware of their every move
They are hypersensitive towards their partner’s moods and often try to accomodate to them
They say they are not being heard in the relationship or disagreements don’t go anywhere
Your friend gets frequent calls from their partner, especially those that require them to check-in and update their status, or make them seem anxious
